Mumbai, April 2014

Q. Do you really take pictures like the one shown above?

A. Absolutely! In fact, I consider these as favourites and personal boosters during a shoot. Please check my about page for some more details on my approach to photography. I may charge extra for standing on a stool with an iPad though.

Q. What are your rates?

A. Commissions for weddings depend on a lot of factors. Your requirements, number of days of shoot, travel etc. Please contact me and I would be happy to give you a complete quote customised for your needs, but as a ballpark figure, a typical one day wedding package starts at ₹ 1,00,000

Q. Will you travel to do my wedding/commercial assignment?

A. Yup. Love it and have done it over and over again within the country and beyond for the past 8 years. Please don't let location be a factor against us working together.

Q. You seem to be against traditional wedding photography. What about portraits of family and friends?

A. Not at all. I totally understand and appreciate the value of traditional family portraits in a wedding. That's why I usually have a support photographer who takes care of capturing essential posed portraits of the family and close friends along with other standard 'traditional' shots. This ensures that at the end of the event, we have both the journalistic as well as the regular shots (which the parents and older people usually prefer) without compromising on either.

Q. What are your standard deliverables for a wedding assignment?

A. A standard full day wedding usually results in 200-250 colour-corrected print-ready images in JPG format (including sharing and printing rights) delivered via cloud or a USB drive within 30 days of the completion of the shoot. For assignments which include a support photographer, I also provide images from the 'traditional' set in addition to my set of images. I also make custom designed wedding photo books which I highly recommend. There is nothing like a real tangible experience of your pictures put together as a book!

Q. Who does your image editing and processing?

A. Personal involvement with my clients and quality of the final output is of utmost importance for me. This is something that I don't compromise on to ensure that my vision and aesthetics are properly applied to my assignments. I (along with my wife who does double duty as an editor) do the post-shoot work and we make sure that it's never outsourced.

Q. What about wedding video?

A. When it comes to wedding video, I work with friends and business partners who are experts in moving images. These are guys I have worked together with for many years and we share a great sense of chemistry and understanding with each other while on assignment. If your needs include video, I will ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for you as a client throughout the process, from start to finish by tag teaming with my video crew.

Q. Is your photography limited to weddings and commercial/editorial assignments?

A. Not at all. As a matter of fact, a good chunk of my work continues to be in the realm of documentary and travel photography and filmmaking. You can find these on my main site at WWW.ABHISHEKSCARIYA.COM. These two halves of mine keep me creatively charged, well balanced and sane in the often insane world of photography.
